A Discourse Analysis Of Students-Teacher Pattern Interaction In Elt Classroom

This study aims to find patterns of interaction between students and teachers in ELT classes. Participants involved this were 32 one English teacher. research is a qualitative with descriptive design. relates the use language social context, namely or dialogue teachers. The author uses 2 types instruments, observation using blue print protocol also recording all learning activities ninth grade SMP N Toboali. Then after making observations obtaining required data, authors conducted an analysis FIAS (Flanders Interaction System Analysis) which consisted 3 parts, teacher's indirect influence, direct influence students' speech responses. consists kinds interactions such as receiving feelings, praising encouragement, accepting student ideas, asking questions. Then, lecturing explaining, giving directions, criticizing justifying authority. last student's response response, initiation, silence. According results, there are four classroom research: content traffic, teacher control, support, participation. Based on results data found, it shows that dominant pattern used participation, total 54 45% utterances. Hence, can be concluded at SMPN Toboali active during teaching process class.
